[edit] Wireless
I've downloaded the driver from the Lenovo site. However, when I try to install the driver from the add hardware window I cannot find the appropriate driver no matter how many times I install or unzip the files. Please help.
___ I believe that it is the second network driver that is un known. sencond i needs to be unzipped in the dell folder to work.___
Does anybody know how to set up XP for a WPA Personal Network?
I downloaded the MBP wireless driver and executed the installshield installer. I can't seem to get the device driver to come up in XP Pro SP2. I rebooted also.
Doesn't show in list of devices unless current in unknown which I would be concerned about mucking up something. Didn't force a plug and play hit and register. Ideas?
I had a hell of a time with this also. I ended up forcing the drivers by selecting "Install from a list or specific location" when the hardware wizard started. The I chose "Don't search. I will choose the driver to install." Then choose to install a network adapter, click "Have Disk" and browse to the folder with the extracted drivers. This should present you with a list of adapters. I chose the 11b/g PCI Express driver, someone else suggested that 11a wasn't supported. Seems to be working OK so far.
[edit] Video
The forum has a very good thread on ATI video drivers for the iMac and MBP. The Mac_Mini_DVI wiki page referenced in the drivers table has good info on the Mini.
Unfortunately, the following directions don't change video performance at all. The drivers do install, X1600 Radeon appears under Display Adapters, and the ATI Catalyst Control Panel also installs (after restart). However, under Display Properties, it still says Default Monitor on and the Catalyst Control Panel will not start. See the thread above for a discussion of why.
- I found an ATI x1600 video driver for the MBP and it seems to be working, but video still isn't perfect. If you go to the ati home page an download the catalyst 6.3 drivers for xp media center edition, it will provide you with the proper files.
- Then add/update driver for the display using the device manager. Choose 'no, not at this time' -> 'Install from specific location' -> 'don't search' -> 'Have disk' -> 'Browse' -> c:ati:support:6-3_xp-2k_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_30895:driver:2kxp_inf:(double click it) then click open. Choose radeon x1600. That should do it. email me with questions ij25@mac.com
[edit] Trouble with Boot Partition
I had serious problems after use XP 2 or 3 days, and can't start windows, it appears a string of commands where seems that en time to give boot for the partition #2 it is giving boot for the partition #1 and don't start windows. I had this problem 2 times. Someone can help me ?
Very Thanks
Gustavo
- I had the exact same problem. What you have to do is type "g" twice at the command prompt, and XP will start up. I sure hope it's fixed in the next release... Ari 11:54, 26 March 2006 (CST)
[edit] Keyboard Mapping
I found that the small 'enter' key on the right side of the MBP keyboard maps to the keypad enter key in the 'remapkey' program--I find that more useful so you can have the right command key for alt-back in webpages.
